Thank You Kim Manners...You Will Be Missed
Filed under: farewellTelevision has lost a prolific talent and the BC film industry has lost a great friend with the passing of Kim Manners.
From his work on 21 Jumpstreet, The Commish, The X-Files and most recently on Supernatural, Kim’s work here, spanning 3 decades, played a major role in some of Vancouver’s most successful shows.

Coming from a showbiz family (his dad Sam Manners worked in production and brother Kelly and sister Tana are both directors) Kim’s career started early with acting as a child; his first role was at the age of three in a Chevrolet commercial. He began directing in 1978 with an episode of Charlie’s Angels after working as a unit production manager on the show.

Kim, along with his fellow producers on The X-Files, was nominated for four Emmy awards for Outstanding Drama Series in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. Following the finale of The X-Files in 2002, Manners directed a number of small projects before signing on to direct and produce Supernatural in 2005. He was a vital part of the show for the next four seasons. After directing the first episode of the fourth season, he learned he had lung cancer. Kim died on January 25th in Los Angeles.
