BizBooks.net is pleased to showcase a few of the local creators for this round of the 2018 Storyhive Digital Shorts Edition.

In this interview, we talked to Natalie Murao about No More Parties.

________________________________

Can you start by telling us about you and your film?

My name is Natalie Murao and I’m a filmmaker from Vancouver, BC. I recently graduated from Simon Fraser University’s Film program and have been showing my latest short film, Floating Light, at festivals both locally and internationally. My film for Storyhive is called No More Parties, which is about a young woman who learns the complexities of independence through her friends and karaoke.

Who else is involved in this project?

My producer is Thea Loo and my sound mixer is Caisha Lea Thompson. Both of whom I met at SFU! I am still crewing up, but I would love to involve more SFU alumni and include an Asian-Canadian cast (which I have done in my previous films).

What would making this film mean to you?

Making this film would mean that I can tell a story that is not typically heard in mainstream media. I want to show Asian-Canadians who are trying to navigate through early adulthood, because I feel it is typically under or misrepresented on screen. By doing so, I hope to address some misconceptions and expose others to a culture they might not be familiar with.
