Biz Books is where film, theatre, and television dreamers dare to dream… one book at a time.

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Biz Books is the only independent store in Canada dedicated to books for film, theatre, and television.

Founded by Canadian actor and entrepreneur Catherine Lough Haggquist, Biz Books has been providing books and magazines to dedicated members of the Canadian film industry since 1996.

Biz Books is inextricably linked with the entertainment forces of Hollywood North. Originally a storefront in Vancouver’s creative hub of Gastown, Biz Books consistently brought movie fans, aspiring actors, directors, and writers of all ages though its doors to seek out the necessary tools that will bring their artistic ideas to life.

In 2010, Biz Books left its Gastown store and adopted an “Online and On Location” model to better serve the high demands of the Canadian entertainment industry.

Through our blog, we also promote regular advance screenings of the latest movies, theatre openings, and industry interviews with the go-getters who are making an impact on Canadian entertainment scene.

On Location, we’re active in the local film community through our work with Vancouver Acting School, Vancouver Film School, Capilano University, the UBC Film Program. We also alternate between hosting our own book launches, pop-up stores, special events, and going on location for entertainment functions like the Vancouver International Film Festival.
